Definition of Osgood-Schlatter Disease
Osgood-Schlatter disease affects adolescents, and is a lump that forms below the knee cap that can be very painful. Boys (13-14 years old) and girls (11-12 years old) going through growth spurts during puberty are effected by this disease. Adolescents that are involved in sports that include running and jumping movements are usually the most susceptible to this disease.
